Above is Gruppo Romm Draculas, the Romm (Gypsy) band that I met while in Florence. They were /incredible/ musicians and, though I didn't get too much chance to talk to any of them, they seemed very nice. The instrument between the stand-up bass and the accordian is a cimbalom, which is something like a very complicated xylophone... Well, perhaps more like a harpiscord (as that's a little more like how it sounds). I loved to watch that guy play. :D I have two CDs from these guys so I'll be uploading lots of tracks. :D
Though I met them in Italy, they told me that they're from Romania. Romanian Romm. I couldn't help but think of Pietro and Wanda. But, of course, that wasn't the only reason I was interested in them. It's incredible music. To the left is one of the tracks I've been listening to a lot. I was a little surprised to actually them playing this when I saw them. (It just seemed too... Perfect? Borderline stereotypical? Hehe.) Well, they /were/ called The Draculas. ;)
